

You need a full retail version of windows 7 pro. Though if you only have an OEM-version of windows 7, this will probably not work.

Only then you can clean install windows 10 if you like to. Then let it upgrade to windows 10 and again make sure, that it is activated.

In order to get your windows 10 activated you should first reinstall windows 8 on the new machine (new mainboard) and make sure that it is properly activated. "Today I built a new computer and used the hard drive from my old one, the one with Win10 on it": That's your first problem.
